"Why are we all hellbent on thinking that staying at home, lying on the couch all day reading or watching TV is a waste of a day, if that's all you really want to do?"
I was talking to a co-worker today, and when she said that it just totally made sense! I mean, what's wrong with wanting to shut down for a day? How is it a waste if it's what you really want to do?
OK, given that if you did it for more than 2 days people may start to get worried. And then the pretty little men in the gleaming white coats may show up and put you in a comfy little van and take you to that happy place with the gates! And the prescription drugs!
Oh my goodness. The Bee-Gee's just came on the radio. "How deep is your love? How deep, how deep is your love...I really need to knooowwww." One of the ultimate All-Day-In-Bed-Songs. How appropriate.
I can't seem to just relax and do nothing for a day without feeling incredibly guilty. Especially when I look down and find the dog in a contorted, twisted position because she hasn't been outside all day.
I'm kidding - KIDDING! Put the phone down. You don't even know where I live.
But why the guilt? Especially when I work hard for the money? I get it - there is always something to do. SOMETHING. Laundry, dishes, floors to be swept and things to be dusted.
But what if, for one day, you just stopped. Took a bath. Took a nap. Forgot about the dishes and the laundry. Picked up a book. Watched the boob tube. Wrote in a journal. Is it going to kill you?
Just askin'.
