Things I Like...

The camera may not be the best, but here's a list of some of the things I love, love, love.

First of all....

Winning lottery tickets. Who doesn't love an extra $6.00? Even though it cost you $4.00 for the ticket, that's still a $2.00 winning!! Which means 1/3 of a bottle of rum!

My bed. My glorious bed. The love of my life. My reason for being. The thing I hate to say goodbye to the most.

The reason, frankly, why I may not have a job for too much longer.

Which, I know doesn't look like much. But it is my QUEEN SIZE BED! And it is wonderful. And cozy. And mushy.

And home to this mutt:

Get off the bed, Roxy. I'm trying to assert my dominance! GET OFF THE BED YOU NUT!

Oh, look how cute you are.

Oh, ok. You just stay there you sweet thing.

Anyhow, onwards to....

My current favourites. One Week, a great Canadian love-affair, equal to my affinity for Bon Cop, Bad Cop. And Coco Avant Chanel with Audrey Tautou, who I love, love, love.

My granny's clock, which I inherited after her death in the 90's. It dates back to the 18oo's and has a hand-painted clock face. According to the back, it's originally from the New Haven Clock Company. From what I remember, my grandpa picked it up on a trip for her, thinking she'd love it. She had numerous clocks in her house, from cuckoo-clocks to big-bong clocks.

And yes, that's their official name. Big-bong clocks.

When she asked what I wanted when she passed, all I said was 'a clock'. This was the one I got, and I am so grateful. I think of her everytime I look at it. And everytime I drink a martini.

My other gran's beautiful jewellery, The jade ring and necklace were gifts from my gramp when he was stationed in Afghanistan as part of the UN. And the clover...well, she wore that for almost her entire adult life as an homage to her Irish roots. I'm proud to own it. It's just simple, beautiful, elegant.

And this...well, this:

Do I even need to go on about this? I mean, I could jump into a vat of this crunchy deliciousness naked. And I'm not even joking.

My brand new TOY! It's a George Foreman Grill! Except it's General Electric. And it's so good. I made asparagus and salmon the first night I had it. And then I had asparagus pee for the rest of the night. Thank goodness I fought off all those men at my door! I mean, who likes asparagus pee?

My family and friends. Photo taken from a distance to protect the innocent. Because many of these photos are still the ones included in the frames I bought.
I just didn't want to look like a loser.
Ok, not entirely true. Only half were included in the frames. The others I borrowed.

And lastly....
The Steins. They need capitilization because they are so beautiful. These are only two of the many I have, thanks to my dad and his dad before him.
I have them all lined up in my kitchen. They all have different faces, characters, volumes and personalities.
They are wonderful. And they give me a sense of my history.
And that history is beer. Although I like rum, beer is a-ok with me.
